About this event

Join Narayan Helen Liebenson, with filmmaker and CIMC Member Tom Miller, for a special Cambridge Insight Meditation Center community event to celebrate and learn more about Dharma in Daily Life (DDL), CIMC’s 15-minute, weekday morning Dharma program.

Tom will share his moving documentary about DDL and the difference it has made in the lives of hundreds of Dharma practitioners. Narayan will lead a sit, share her reflections, and invite discussion and questions. Participants will have the opportunity to meet in small groups as well.

This program is freely offered. Your confirmation email from Eventbrite will include the Zoom link.

From filmmaker Tom Miller:

"Although I've been meditating for a long time, it's fair to say that Dharma in Daily Life has changed my life. Narayan, the depth of it all, the regularity of it all, and really significantly, the sangha, have all impacted me in ways I can't necessarily describe in words. I wanted to somehow give something back - even just some small thing - in appreciation. So, I made a short film about DDL. I knew I wanted the film to include something about the waving we do at the end of each session (I love the waving!), but otherwise, I let the sangha members that I interviewed lead me to the content that eventually made it into the film. Bert Seager gave me the great gift of letting me use his music in the film. This gave it a life that I couldn't have conjured without him. I am so happy that the film is finally finished and that I can share it with you. I hope that it feels true to you and makes you smile."

What is Dharma in Daily Life?

Narayan offered the first session of Dharma in Daily Life on Zoom on April 1, 2020, just a few days after the COVIC pandemic forced CIMC to close its doors. We envisioned a temporary, online way to support members of the CIMC sangha who might be grappling with uncertainty and anxiety as the ground and rhythms of life shifted so radically. The idea was to offer 15 minutes of respite and support to start the day. We had no idea what lay ahead, nor how many people would benefit.

Almost three years later, Narayan and other CIMC teachers continue to offer DDL on weekday mornings from 8:45-9:00: A brief sit, Dharma reflections from our teachers, a “practice for the day”, and a wave goodbye.

Everyone is welcome.

DDL is a thriving online practice community that is also welcoming to newcomers at any time. Whether you are an experienced meditator or completely new to the practice, all are welcome. DDL is a steadfast community of belonging and learning for those who aspire to daily practice, benefit from Dharma guidance and encouragement, and find sitting in sangha strengthens their practice.
